If you have ever wanted an application that would keep track of all the pictures on your disk iView is for you. iView is primarily designed to catalogue and playback image files. iView goes beyond the Mac's simple scrapbook utility and allows you to view and organise several types of images on all your disks. Some of the types currently supported include: JPEG, GIF, Single-layer Photoshop, Silicon Graphics and of course PICT files, clips and startup screens. iView displays images as a list of file names, list of thumbnails, variable sized image, or as a slide show. Images can then be cataloged, launched with the application that created them, printed in custom reports, saved as a QuickTime™ movie, copied to the clipboard, or dragged as clips to the finder. Catalogs can be searched and saved on your hard disk. A catalog can contain real images from volumes that may not be mounted. iView will let you view the images and prompt you to insert the volume to retrieve an image.
iView makes extensive use of drag and drop which makes it easy to use and interface with the finder. In fact, everything about iView is designed to be simple, useful and intuitive. iView eliminates tedious repetitive work and increases your ability to get the job done. It makes image re-use and playback quick and easy, as it ensures individuals as well as publishers, designers, pre-press operators and multi-media programmers will never have to search through stacks of SyQuest back-ups for missing images ever again.

System Requirements
iView works fine on any Mac with system 7.5 or higher. It will also run under 7.1 if you have the "Macintosh Drag and Drop" extension installed, 500k of free memory, QuickTime 2.5 and the "Finder Scripting Extension" in your Extensions folder. iView is a fat binary. This means its accelerated for the PowerPC, and also runs on Macs with the older 68000 chip. iView requires a minimum of 1 MB of free memory.

Quick Start
Organize all your pictures on all your disks effortlessly. Its not necessary to move files or create any folders just drop a disk (your hard disk icon), folder or file on the iView icon or drag a disk, folder or file into iView's open window. iView will process all the pictures in whatever was dragged in and show them in the Catalog view like this:
Images can be viewed by name, size, type, location, in a sortable list. Just click on the list header. Multiple images can be pre-viewed in preview mode. To mark an item hold down the command key and click on it and it will display an underline. Marked items can be revealed in their respective folders of deleted from the catalog.
Press the "View" button or double-click on an image to start the slide show. You can pause the slide show by clicking the mouse once. Double click the mouse to exit. The slide show always hilites the last image viewed so you can restart the show from where you left it by simple pressing the return key.
Back on the main iView window, you can click on of the 3 buttons under the image counter to reveal the selected folder, launch a file with its application or remove it from the list (this does not delete the file only a reference to it).
Catalogs can thus contain whatever images you choose. To save this catalog go to the File menu and down to 'Save list as...' then 'iView catalog'. This way you can have a variety of sets of images to fit your needs.

double clicked on the desktop to be opened.
You can then save the list on your hard disk. You can replay lists even if the images are missing, as iView stores the image preview on its catalog. Finally you can create customised reports of your lists, or create QuickTime™ movie files for automatic playback via Apple's Movie Player.
Important: you can also make slide shows for playback from CD-ROM.
Simply create catalogues of the images you want to playback, and burn the catalogue, along with the images (your artwork) and a copy of iView onto the CD-ROM.
NOTE: iView catalogues contain full pathnames, therefore the folder structure of your catalogues must be maintained for CD-ROM playback.

Open: Opens images, catalogues or folders.
Clear List: Removes all items from the list.
Save Catalogue As: Creates iView catalogues.
Make Movie: Creates a self-contained QuickTime™ movie.
Find: Search image names in volumes and iView catalogues.
Error Log: Displays errors occurred during the last drag and drop.
Print Preview: Lets you customise printable image reports.
Page Setup: Lets you choose printer options.
Print: Prints a report, using your preview options.
Edit
Cut: Copies the selected image (as PICT) and removes it from the list.
Copy: Copies the selected image (as PICT).
Clear: Remove the selected item from the list.
Reveal Item: Finds the folder that contains the selected item.
Launch Item: Launches the selected item with its application.
Marks
Toggle Mark: Changes the marking on the selected item.
Reveal Marked Items: Reveals marked files in Finer windows.
Remove Marked Items: Removes marked files from the list.
Mark All: Marks all items
Unmark All: Removes the marking from all items
Toggle All: Reverses marking status on all files.
Folders
Edit Folder List: Adds Removes folders for fast image selection.
Get From Selection: Adds the folder of the selected item.
More items will appear in this menu as you build it up. Store commonly used folders to quickly view all images included.
Shortcuts
In iView Window:
• Command Click to mark/unmark an image.
• Use arrow keys to scroll list in image view.
• Click and drag an item to any application that accepts PICT clippings or to the finder.
During Slide Show:
• ESC or 'Q': exits the slide show
• 'M': marks/unmarks the displayed image
• 'Space bar': shows/hides the info bar and cursor.
• '1' to '4': reset the speed.
• Caps Lock: Sets zooming on/off and blows up pictures to full screen.
• 'Arrow keys': Take you manually to next/previous image.
Slide show window mouse down:
• Single click: Pause show
• Double click: exit show.

iView can read file formats supported by QuickTime which include JPEG, GIF, Photoshop, Silicon Graphics, grip, jpg, qtif, 8BPS and of course PICT.
